7 Khoon Guilty

“I will kill him and drink his blood,” - declares Priyanka Chopra for her 7th Husband.and you pity on the thriller , so dark yet uninteresting that Vishal Bhardwaj can be termed Guilty.
Adaptation from Ruskin Bond's short story was a brave attempt by VB, However I wish he should stick to William Shakespeare for his inspiration.
The movie opens with a flashback and then goes on in a very straight boring way. The thrill is never chilling, nor the murders.
All the husbands were turned into some sort of caricatures before 'Piggy' chops them. Loose story and screenplay ruined the dark shadows and camera. The makeup tried to cover-up the patches of VB's venture but it all ended in a long 2 and half hours of movie which drags. Weak characterization of Two male helps and one Maggie aunty proved the weak story . VB forgets to add the real police with law and order in place. Instead he sends an officer with sexual appetite boiled by blue popping pills.
Other husbands like the one legged major with a gallantry award  was another caricature played well by Neil. Followed by a bulging John, whose love story was never explained. Neither was the drug abuse. Irrfan khan was another disappointment, its good to know that he is buried in snow now. The Russian double agent was another hard hitter without a cause although Naseer had one. He failed too as he portrayed a Bengali  Mushroomist.
The only artist which impressed me was Vivan Shah. He got his bloody talent from papa Naseeruddin Khan and was flawless with his love for his Shahib. He was patient , smooth and perfect. This adult story had his teenage platonic love angles.

The music was ofcourse good. VB kept the tempo and some faith through his music. Like always supported by none other than the legendary Gulzar. Songs like "Tere Liye" and "Bekaran" were very poetic and the best among the lot. So was the two rock numbers. Daarrling was a peppy, saucy foot thumping ballet, just like another 'Dhan te nan'.
The chronology of Indian events were kept and excelled along with Priyanka's aging skin.

I can forgive Priyanka but not VB.
Thank God, her last husband was already dead. We were saved by another caricature.

Green traffic lights

Today was my real start of bachelorhood, only for mere 11 days.
I bid goodbye to my Girl-friend at the Bangalore Airport.
She is off to Delhi , for wedding preparations.
I thought I ll do something, and before I could blink, everything started falling out of place.

I needed to shift my whole suitcase into several big cardboard boxes, in order to vacate my room.
My office is having a bad day, escalations are eating up my weekends.
All of my friends are busy.
I am alone in my room along with 29 sealed boxes.
Tomorrow is Saturday and I ll be in my office.
Hungry from morning, as the burner is in some miscellaneous boxes.
I Searched the scotch but the glasses are packed deep in a very secure way.
I cannot live with my suitcase packed in these boxes.
I cannot sleep in changing beds.
My cable connection is still on , but the TV is enclosed surrounded by polystyrene sheets.

I remember now, while coming back from Airport, all the traffic signals were Green.
Did I miss one?

Yeh "PULP" Zindagi

When Sudhir Mishra goes Tarantino's way --->
The result : A twisty turvy haphazard love story crisscrossed by mafia along with lots of pun and lots of humor yielding Clip.
Yeh Saali Zindagi is a real Pulp movie, where there is a story inside the story and flashback inside flashback.
Gangster falling in love with a Bar-Singer, who is in love with an Ex rich tycoon, who is engaged to a minister's daughter, who should be kidnapped by a Mafia from Russia in lieu of getting his elder brother out of Tihar Jail, who knows the accounts number of several Swiss banks account, which he finally tells to his side kick, who wanted to leave the gang because he's a lovely kissable wife and a trustworthy corrupt cop, who cannot be trusted .......... The story cannot be more real and complicated.
Sudhir Mishra was too good in penning them down and then turning the characters on the celluloid . After "Iss Raat ki Subah Nahin" and "Chameli", he has come a  long way with wit and humor, and this time he is back with a Roller-coaster. The ride is thrilling and amazing when its comes to the characterization.
The castings continued with the names splattered all over the screen , even a small side kick is introduced with an introduction. It was a good format adopted by Mishra, and excellent handling by Sachin Kumar Krishnan and Archit D Rastogi for their camera and editing respectively.
Not to forget the dialogues , written with a twist of humor and dash of rougeness, pro-founding the real Delhi. Manu Rishi along with Mishra were superb with their pens as it cut through the real nerve of the movie. The movie went forward with their wit thrust and was real quick.
Irrfan khan was subtle in playing a smart underworld investment consultant but a dumb-ass when it comes to Love. He was superb with his lines and timings. He is one such actor who is actually turning out like that of early Naseerudin Shah and Om Puri.

The muse is still a muse, Chitrangda Singh again  with her power role after Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. She is charming and a playgirl with a brain and suited to the character of rock star with her sultry looks. The not so maiden diva was a delight in this male stuffed milieu.
Arunoday Singh was wasted earlier in Aisha, Mirch and Sikander. This time the director's baby was a good deliverable when he came to play a lover and a henchman. Aditi Rao Hyadri, was a real treat, when it came to passionate love making scenes. She broke the record of Mallika Sherawat with 22 kisses in YSZ against 18 from Khwaish. This Delhi-6 aunt has really come a long way.
While Sushant Singh,Yashpal Sharma and Prashant Narayanan were competent with their part.
Saurabh Shukla , as a fat spitted scoundrel was too good especially with his the dirty rotten philosophy. He played the gangster or the moll with raw perfection.
The music composed by sitarist Nishat Khan was with terms with the movie and its pace. and the lyrics  by Swanand Kirkire esp for the title track was worth the title.

The killing of Ex-kidnap kingpin resulting in a long fart was something really creative.

A Pulp story served sizzling...

#twifibang meet for @twi_fi_awards

Come Saturday and We the Tweeple had our Twi-Fi meet at Cafe Matteo in Bangalore.
This event was for all the movie buffs, who sleep  and walk  and eat  movies.
To be more precise Bollywood movies :)
The famous Filmfare awards were never good enough for good movies and it was a way popular by the section of few handfuls. I always wanted to stop these awards going into hands of Shahrukh Khan or Kajol, as it turned out to be true again with Filmfare 2011. Good movies always loose the popular whistles and claps, as they don't have the content for front benchers.
Somehow Filmfare's will identify the real good movies and award them with Critics Award.
An irony for non-critics.
They have awards like Best Debut (Male), as if its a Doodh-Bhaat (easy cakewalk) for the first release of Star-sons or launched via big production house. Why a movie like Antardwand and LSD has to suffer on this front. When their actors can give a money run to Hritik Or SRK in terms of sheer acting.
The joy of watching good actors are limited in small movies like Phas Gaya re Obama or Udaan.
All these grunts were satisfied when I first heard of an award, which is not for Popular category neither of some selected jury.
It was indeed , "Of the Tweeple, For the Tweeple, By the Tweeple, for the Most Deserving in Hindi Cinema".
The discussion was healthy and over a broad ranges from technical to not so popular awards.
The debate was on some awards like Best comedian, Best villain and was felt that they need to be scrapped because we don't have awards for Best gray character, best normal actor, Best dramatic actor, Best intense actor and so on .. so why the fuss over Best comedian or villan. If you are an actor you need to compete with all at once.
Also to give a platform for Short films.

The discussions were lovely over the Kappa and the whole environment was noisy as if it's out of the Drum.
Its good to be a part of bollywood bloggers and celebrity like Anurag Kashyap, Raja Sen,Mallika Sherawat, Gul Panag, Rajiv Masand......
Its good to support a fair, transparent and democratic cause for our bollywood...
I enjoyed being a part of the new Twivolution......
